After seeing the beautiful quilts on display and hearing the stories behind the making of the quilts by a local quilting guild, a small group of Vance Street ladies expressed interest in learning the fine art of quilting. The ladies committed themselves to taking classes from area teachers to learn quilt making.
In 2014, the Vance Street Scrappers were formed. The name emerged from the realization that something beautiful could come out of ordinary scrapes of fabric that others would discard as useless.
Our mission is to continue to learn and perfect the art of quilting started long ago by our ancestors and to pass this on to others who want to learn.
VS Scrappers meet on the 4th Saturday of each month from 9:30 to 12:00, to enjoy fellowship, encouragement and laughter, all important parts of quilting.
